This very old antique chatelaine has an open work repousse' plaque, with a back clip for hanging on the waist. It has three double chains, with three ornamental attachments, the center chain has a small round mirror the other two are repousse' and appear to be just for decoration. Chatelaine is steel and marked with a cartouche and the name Michael Paul. The plaque alone measures 3 3/4 in.'s across, 2 1/4 in.'s vertical, attachments are 6 in.'s including chain, The total length about 8 in.'s. Anything could be attached if one had the gadgets. It is very ornamental and dating it is difficult, but I would assume the 1800's. In excellent condition no corrosion or damage. Very rare piece indeed!!
